EFS = Tennessee's Education Freedom Scholarship — roughly $7,530 per student for 2026-27, usable at registered private schools. Registration status as of October 2026; see "The EFS column" below. Also registered nearby: Zion Christian Academy in Columbia (checked Oct 2026).

Now the honest version of each.

Spring Hill Christian Academy

The school with the deepest local roots. SHCA has taught classical Christian education in Spring Hill since 2004 — kindergarten through 8th grade, small classes (about 15:1), with a sister preschool taking children from 12 months. If you want a traditional five-day school with a classical backbone and two decades of history behind it, start your search here.

The numbers: kindergarten $7,450, grades 1–8 $7,950. Fees add up: $200 application, $595 curriculum, $250 supplies, and after-care $950/year (or $30/day). Need-based financial aid is available for qualifying families. (Figures as printed on their site October 2026.)

Columbia Academy — Spring Hill campus

The biggest name of the four, and the only school in this guide currently registered for Tennessee's Education Freedom Scholarship. The Spring Hill campus (756 Beechcroft Rd — one lot over from us, honestly) runs PreK through 6th grade with roughly 175 students; grades 7–12 continue at their Columbia campuses, with round-trip shuttle service from Spring Hill listed at $900/year. Cognia-accredited (Category III), with the athletics, arts, and resources of a larger school system.

The numbers (2026–27, as labeled on their page): Jr. K $10,270 · K–3 $10,470 · grades 4–6 $10,930 (for reference, 7–9 runs $11,910 and 10–12 $12,320 in Columbia). Fees: $100 application/testing, $400 enrollment, $250–$550 books/technology. Sibling discounts ($300 second child, $750 each additional). One notable line: every family applying for financial aid is required to apply for an EFS scholarship.

Saints Classical Academy

The most affordable seat in Spring Hill — because it's two days, not five. Saints is a K–12 classical tutorial (est. 2020) meeting at Southview Church on Northfield Lane: full academic program two days a week, plus optional Friday enrichment, about 15:1. It's built for homeschool families who want a Christ-centered classical spine with structure — and it's honest about that.

The numbers (their 2026–27 tuition guide): K–5 $3,700 · grades 6–12 $4,600. Fees: $80 application per family, $150 registration, $200 facility, $100 lunch-volunteer fee (credited back for 4 volunteer hours per student), supplies vary. Sibling discounts run 10/20/30%, and paying in full by June 15 takes 5% off.

Acton TriStar Academy (us)

We'll write this one plainly. TriStar is a learner-driven school — part of the Acton Academy network (300+ campuses worldwide) and run right here in Spring Hill. Mixed-age studios instead of grade levels. Socratic guides instead of lecturers. Mastery badges instead of letter grades. Real-world quests — our learners have run the Spring Hill Children's Business Fair four years running — because learning to do beats learning to take tests. Small by design: your child is known, not managed.

Grades, honestly: K–12 is the destination, and we're building it one studio at a time — we won't print a badge we haven't built yet. Today that's two mixed-age studios: Spark (ages 5–7) and Adventure (ages 8–13), with the next studio opening as we grow.

The numbers (our own tuition page, as printed October 2026): $8,750 a year for either studio — that's $875/month, September through June, four days a week (Monday–Thursday). There's a three-day Spark option (Tuesday–Thursday) at $6,565 a year ($656/month). A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at acceptance, per child. Sibling discounts: 10% off for the first, 15% for the second and beyond — plus 5% off for paying the year in full. Details: actontristar.com/tuition

EFS, honestly: TriStar is a Category III accredited school. We are not yet EFS-registered — registration for 2027–28 opens November 16, and it's the plan. Until then, we won't pretend otherwise.

If you want your child to own their learning — not just attend school — come see us. If that sounds like too much rope, the three schools above are good ones, and we mean it.

Four days, five days, two: what the price gap actually buys

Comparing tuition across these four means comparing different products:

~$7,400–$10,900 buys a five-day seat — a traditional school week, either classical Christian (SHCA) or a larger system (Columbia Academy).

~$3,700–$4,600 buys two structured days at Saints — you're the co-teacher the other three days. For homeschool families, that's not a compromise; it's the point.

$8,750 buys a four-day learner-driven studio (or $6,565 for the three-day Spark option) — Monday through Thursday, mixed-age, mastery-based. The model is different from all three, which is why the tour matters more than the table.

Whichever way you lean, ask every school the same three questions on your tour:

  1. "What does a normal Tuesday look like?" (You'll learn more from that than any brochure.)
  2. "How do you handle a child who's behind — or ahead?"
  3. "What's the total bill?" Tuition plus every fee — the tables above are your starting point, and the numbers are dated October 2026. Schools reprice every spring.

The EFS column, explained

Tennessee's Education Freedom Scholarship puts roughly $7,530 per student (2026–27 figure) toward private-school tuition at registered schools. As of October 2026, Columbia Academy is the only school in this guide registered — checked against the state's published list (updated August 2026). Saints Classical and Spring Hill Christian Academy are not registered. TriStar is accredited (Category III) and plans to accept EFS beginning with the 2027–28 school year; the registration window opens November 16.

If EFS matters to your planning, that column deserves as much weight as tuition.

Come see for yourself. Numbers on a page can only take you so far — the fit shows up in the room.
